Dragons

There are many different kinds of dragons in mythology. There is even a very real "dragon" alive today: the Komodo dragon. Well, ok it isn't exactly a true dragon of mythological proportions, but it is a dragon nonetheless.

In literature, there are dragons who breathe fire, dragons who breathe noxious gases, and even dragons who spit acid. Some dragons were shapeshifters who walked amongst humans.

The most famous dragon? Probably J.R.R. Tolkien's Smaug, the dragon who terrorized the humans, but was ultimately brought down with a little help from Bilbo Baggins. Boy, I sure hope Peter Jackson decides to bring the Hobbit onto the big screen. I have no doubt it would smash all box office records, considering it was the best loved book of the Lord of the Rings genre. Look at what the first 3 did!
