Playing Advanced Dungeons and Dragons as a teenager (and into adulthood)
yielded some of the most inspiring memories I have. On one particular
evening after a non-stop gaming session of around 35 hours without
sleep, my friends and I went to the neighborhood convenience
store to pick up some snacks and refreshments. My friend David
strolled up to the clerk at the counter with a bag of potato
chips that lacked a price tag, and non-chalantly looked
him square in the eyes and asked, "How many goldpieces is this
bag of chips?". You should have seen the look on the clerks face,
with the raised left eyebrow and the cocked head staring back
at David. The problem is that David had no idea that he confused
the game with reality, until he looked back at the rest of us,
red faced and laughing hysterically at him. Thank goodness
the clerk was a gamer too!!
